Girls' Choir

"I have been in the choir for five years now and I really enjoy it. I like the social aspect of it and that we are all different ages. The tours that I have been on to France and York are very fun, because they are brilliant opportunities to sing in different places. The choir is very fun and I have made lots of friends through it."

Being a member of the Girls' Choir at Emmanuel is an incredibly exciting opportunity!
Members of the Girls' Choir sing for regular Sunday morning services at Emmanuel whilst receiving first-class musical training. The experiences that girl choristers gain, whether it be singing to thousands of people in packed Cathedrals or standing ovations on foreign soil, are experiences that stay with them for life. Most importantly, singing with the Girls' Choir is great fun!
The Girls' Choir sing for Sunday Morning Eucharist at Emmanuel on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month during term time. Girl Choristers join together with the Boys' Choir to sing for various services, concerts and tours. Recent trips have included Notre Dame Cathedral, York Minster and Birmingham Cathedral. The Girls' Choir often join with other choirs, and will shortly be fulfilling the role of the Gallery Choir in a performance of Benjamin Britten's Cantata Saint Nicolas with Sutton Coldfield Choral Society.
Emmanuel Girls' Choir costs nothing to join, and girls are paid termly for their singing. In addition, choristers are paid extra for singing at special services and weddings. All tours are subsidised and additional financial support is available in cases of individual need.
We develop confidence, self-discipline, teamwork, initiative, and an expectation of high standards. No previous experience is required, and girl choristers come from various backgrounds and schools.
