Peter Morris

Peter Morris was born in Huddersfield and was a chorister at Chester and Manchester Cathedrals. After leaving Chetham’s School he studied music at Durham University where he was Organ Scholar of St John’s College. After University he became Director of Music at two of the church comprehensive schools in the Lichfield Diocese.
He also has a Masters degree from Keele University, a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts and of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. In 2000 was awarded the Medaille d’honneur of the Confederation Musicale de France and in 2016 an Honorary Fellowship of Wolverhampton University for services to music education in the Black Country. From 2003 until April 2018 he was Director of Music at St Peter’s Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton, which had the biggest church choirs in the country, and is now Organist Emeritus overseeing their current organ rebuild.
His present roles are: Borough Organist at Walsall Town Hall, Conductor of Wolverhampton Symphony Orchestra; Chief Examiner for A – level and GCSE General Studies, examiner for A-level Practical Music, moderator for the Extended Project Qualification and chair of the Wolverhampton Music Education hub.
